

Iurie Maimescu
Biography
Moldovan bass Iurie Maimescu made his debut at the State Opera as Raimondo in a concert performance of Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor on 11 March 2023. After studying accordion, choir conducting and piano, he graduated in 2004 from the Academy of Performing Arts in Chisinau with a degree in singing. Since 2004 he has been a member of the National Opera and Ballet of Maria Bieșu in Chisinau. He received a scholarship from the CEE Musiktheatre in Vienna. He has won numerous awards from Moldovan and Romanian singing competitions and festivals. His repertoire includes such roles as Mozart's Leporello, Masetto, Il Commendatore, Figaro, Count, Bartolo and Sarastro, Rossini's Basilio and Bartolo, Donizetti's Dulcamara, Verdi's Ramfis, Zachariah and Sparafucile, Tchaikovsky's King René and Prince Gremin, Puccini's Timur and Colline, etc. He has been a guest artist in Germany, France, Spain, Great Britain and Bulgaria.
