
Originally from Houston, Isaiah Liggins is an upcoming fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he studies with Daniel Washington.
In the summer of 2025, he attended the American Institute of Musical Studies program in Graz, an experience that strengthened his musical and artistic development.
Last fall, he received First Place in the undergraduate division of the Friends of Opera Competition and later performed in a winners’ recital in April 2026. During the same season, he performed the role of Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro with the University of Michigan Opera Theatre, his first operatic role.
This summer, he will participate in the Houston Grand Opera Young Artists Vocal Academy, where he looks forward to working alongside faculty and fellow young artists.
