Biography

Russian music critic, opera dramaturge and producer Ilya Kukharenko graduated from the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts – GITIS. He has collaborated with many Russian magazines and newspapers, and for more than 10 years he was a TV presenter at the Russian TV-channel “Russia-Culture”. He worked as Head of PR-department of the Perm Opera (2011–12) and as Perspective Planning Adviser at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (2012–13). As dramaturge he has collaborated with the stage director Philipp Grigoryan on A Clockwork Orange production at the State Theater of Nations in Moscow (2016), Mayakovsky. Tragedy at the Gogol Centre in Moscow (2017) and Offenbach’s La Périchole at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow (2019), among others. With Timofej Kuljabin he has collaborated on his Tannhäuser production at the Novosibirsk Opera (2014), Don Pasquale (2016) and Rusalka (2019) at the Bolshoi Theatre, and Rigoletto (2017) and Les Noces/Oedipus Rex (2019) at the Opernhaus Wuppertal. He also worked as playwrite in Close Both of My Eyes performance, directed by Anna Abalikhina, at the International Festival – School of Contemporary Arts TERRITORIЯ in Perm.
