Biography
Ilia Papandreou was born in London and raised in Frankfurt, Germany. She began her musical studies at the Berklee College of Music, then continued in Frankfurt and finally received her diploma from the Athens Conservatory of Music in January 2005. She is now a soloist of the Theater Erfurt, where she has sung many main roles in a number of productions, such as Fidelio, Rosenkavalier, Eine Nacht in Venedig, Rusalka, Le nozze di Figaro, Zigeunerbaron, Otello, Simon Boccanegra, Carmen, Faust, Madama Butterfly, Eugene Onegin, Don Carlos, Iolanta and Manfred Gurlitt’s Nana; this performance was also published on CD for Chrystal Classics. In Leipzig she has guest appeared as Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), in Gera as Mimi (La bohème), Nedda (I pagliacci) and Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow) and in Nice as Liu (Turandot). Her engagements in the 2016/17 season include Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) in St. Gallen, Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) in Weimar and Martha (Die Passagierin) in Gelsenkirchen.
