Biography

Armenian tenor Hovhannes Ayvazyan makes his debut at the National Theatre Opera and the State Opera in the 2025/26 season, appearing on 24 April in the role of Otello and on 29 May as Radames (Aida). His recent and upcoming performances include Cavaradossi (Tosca) at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Andrea Chénier at the Gwangju Culture & Art Center in South Korea, Manrico (Il trovatore) with Daegu International Opera, Don José (Carmen) at the Armenian National Opera, Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and the Mariinsky Theatre, Calaf in a new production of Turandot at Poznań Opera, Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera) and Rodolfo (Luisa Miller) at the Bolshoi Theatre, Otello at Poznań Opera, the Hungarian State Opera, Wiesbaden and the Armenian National Opera in Yerevan, Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) at the Armenian National Opera, Radames (Aida) at Dubai Opera, Arena di Verona, Oper im Steinbruch, Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, the Royal Danish Opera and the Mariinsky Theatre, and Manrico at Müpa Budapest, among others. Hovhannes Ayvazyan is a graduate of the State Conservatoire in Yerevan. Since his stage debut in 2010, he has frequently performed in numerous opera houses and concert halls, including Opera Belcanto of South Simcoe in Toronto, the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Tatar State Opera in Kazan, the Musikverein in Vienna, Novaya Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, among others.
