Biography
Haruka Iguchi was born on 29 July 1999 in Tottori Prefecture, Japan. Her first formal training came at the Perm State Ballet School (2015–2016) under Yelizaveta Khrebtova, after which she was admitted to the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in St Petersburg, where she studied in 2016–2019 with Maria Gribanova (6th grade) and Marina Vasilieva (7th grade). Even as a student she attracted attention for her exceptional musicality and the elegant line of her port de bras.
Haruka began her professional career in the 2019/2020 season with the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok, where she danced in both the classical and modern repertory. Her roles there included the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snowflakes and Waltz of the Flowers in The Nutcracker; Swans and the Polonaise in Swan Lake; the Flower‑seller and Seguidilla in the dream scene of Don Quixote; the Peasant pas de deux and a Wili in Giselle; the Silver Fairy and Generosity Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty; and the Pirate Women in Le Corsaire. A significant milestone was her ensemble début in Balanchine’s Serenade.
Since 16 August 2023 Haruka has been a member of the Czech National Ballet in Prague, where she quickly entered both the classical and contemporary repertory. She has already danced Clara Cratchit, the Christmas Fairy and Clara in a Dream in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol; Olga in Onegin; Juliet in Romeo and Juliet; the Fairy of Beauty and the jewels Ruby and Topaz in The Sleeping Beauty; and a Solo Fairy in La Sylphide. In modern projects she has stood out in Artza and Bill in the triple bill bpm, in Forsythe’s fragment The Second Detail, in Hans van Manen’s Frank Bridge Variations and Marco Goecke’s Fly Paper Bird in the programme Beyond Vibrations. In 2024 audiences saw her as Swanilda and in the Prayer, Work and Dawn variations of Coppélia, and as the sparkling Dewdrop in the new fairy‑tale ballet The Sun, the Moon and the Wind.
Haruka also performs regularly with orchestra during stage productions – for example in Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet and The Nutcracker, where she has danced iconic solo parts. Away from the stage she teaches classical technique in both the Czech Republic and Japan and enjoys connecting musical perception with dance expression.
In May 2025 she was promoted to demi‑soloist of the Czech National Ballet.
