Biography

Guest of the National Theatre Opera. Born in the Czech Republic, Hannah Esther Minutillo pursued her musical education at the Conservatory of Pardubice. In 1990 she joined Marianne Schech's class at the Munich Singschule and attended masterclasses with Mikael Eliasen in Belgium. Guest performances presented the young artist first as Annio (Mozart: La clemenza di Tito, 1993) in Darmstadt and also at the Vienna Konzerthaus (1994), in the title role of Bizet's Carmen in Klagenfurt (1994) and in concert performances of Berlioz' Les Troyens in Toulouse and Athens (1994). The following year she had great success when singing the Fox (Janáček: The Little Cunning Vixen) at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and at Madrid's Teatro Real in 1998. In 1999 she made her successful debut as Octavian (R. Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier) at the Basel Theatre (stage direction: Andreas Homoki) and appeared for the first time at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich as Emilia (Verdi: Otello). In 2000 she sang the role of Octavian again within a new production in Kassel and at the Frankfurt Opera subsequently followed by two important roles debuts: Prince Orlofsky (J. Strauss: Die Fledermaus) at the Zurich Opera and Idamante (Mozart: Idomeneo) within the Salzburg Festival production (stage directors: Ursel & Karl Ernst Herrmann) at the Baden-Baden Festival. In 2001 she performed the role of Zefka within a newly staged version of Leoš Janáček's song cycle Zápisník zmizelého (Diary of one who disappeared) at the Brussels KunstenFestival; this production was also revived at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, in Paris and in Orléans. In 2003 she made her role debut as Sesto (La clemenza di Tito) within the same opera at the German Ludwigsburg Festival. In 2004 she could be heard as Octavian at Staatsoper Hamburg and as Idamante at the Grand Théâtre de Genève before singing her very first Cherubino (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) at the Ludwigsburg Festival. In 2005 she made her debut with the Vienna Volksoper and in 2006 with Gran Canaria Festival singing Annio. Within the last years she appeared frequently at the Munich Staatsoper as Emilia (Otello), Suzuki (Puccini: Madama Butterfly) and as Fortuna/Pallade/Venere (Monteverdi: L'incoronazione di Poppea). Hannah Esther Minutillo has been connected to the Opéra National in Paris performing in numerous production at both the Opéra Bastille and the Paris Grand Opéra: Annio, Die Dame (Hindemith: Cardillac), Zefka (Zápisník zmizelého). She is also commited to sing the role of the Fox in Janáček's The Little Cunning Vixen at the Paris Opéra National within the upcoming seasons. Her CD recordings include Beethoven's 9th Symphony (Arte Nova), Dvořák's Rusalka (Decca); on DVD one can see her as Fox (Arthaus), as Annio (Opus Arte) and as Die Dame in Cardillac (Bel Air Media).
