Hannah Clark

Biography

Hannah is an English set and costume designer working in opera, theatre and dance. She trained in theatre design at Nottingham Trent University and Central School of Speech and Drama. She was a winner of the 2005 Linbury Biennial Prize for stage design. Current and forthcoming productions include Verdi‘s Simon Boccanegra (Dutch National Opera), Britten‘s The Turn of the Screw (Royal Opera House Linbury), and productions at Finnish National Opera, Dutch National Opera and Opernhaus Zürich. Recent productions include costume designs for Cavalli’s La Calisto (Festival d'Aix-en-Provence), set and costume designs for Verdi‘s Un ballo in maschera (Opernhaus Zürich), costume designs for Handel’s Agrippina, Strauss‘ Ariadne auf Naxos and Rameau‘s Platée (Opernhaus Zürich), Handel‘s Semele (Glyndebourne Opera); Puccini’s Il trittico (Scottish Opera / Welsh National Opera), set and costume designs for Future Cargo (Requardt & Rosenberg / The Place / Realscape Productions Australia), Mozart‘s Mitridate (Garsington Opera), In the Realms of Sorrow (London Handel Festival), Handel’s Berenice (Royal Opera House, Linbury), and Verdi’s Stiffelio (Opéra national du Rhin). Previous credits include Philip Venables‘ 4.48 Psychosis (Royal Opera House, Lyric Hammersmith / Prototype Festival New York), Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Northern Ireland Opera) and Idomeneo (Garsington Opera). For the Royal Shakespeare Company: Henry VI Rebellion, The Wars of Roses, The Taming of the Shrew and Queen Anne. For Opera North: Handel’s Alcina,  Silent Night, Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Ravel’s L‘enfant et les sortiléges, Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti  and Janáček‘s Destiny.
