Hana Polanská Turečková
Biography
Hana Turečková was born in Opava. She began her studies at the Dance Conservatory in Brno and in 1997 continued at the Dance Conservatory in Prague, graduating in 1999. In the same year she joined the National Theatre in Brno as a member of the corps de ballet. She danced Myrtha in Giselle, Pas de trois and the Spanish Dance in Swan Lake and a solo part in Psalm Symphony. Between 2000-2010 she was a member of the National Theatre Ballet, where in 2007 she was appointed a demi-soloist. Her most distinguished roles include the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Henrietta and the Spanish Dance in Raymonda, the Captive in Polovtsian Dances, the Bride and Pas de trois in Swan Lake, the Dragonfly in The Child and Magic, Virginia in Through Nana’s Eyes, the Evil IV in Lucrezia Borgia, Pas de six in The Taming of the Shrew, the Snowflake in the waltz in The Nutcracker, Myrtha in Giselle, the Dying Swan and Grand pas de quatre within the mixed bill Ballet Mania. Audiences have also had the chance to see her in Onegin, Romeo and Juliet, Goldilocks and La Sylphide.When it comes to the modern repertoire, she dances in Petr Zuska’s Ways 03, Among the Mountains, IBBUR or A Prague Mystery, Requiem, D.M.J. 1953–1977 and BREL – VYSOTSKY – KRYL / Solo for Three, Jiří Kylián’s Sinfonietta and Itzik Galili’s Through Nana’s Eyes. In addition to interpretation work, she also devotes to choreography – Quien passara?, Public Intimity, Tanec životy (Dancing Through Lives), Jsou...(They Are…), Jako překročit svítání. (How to Get Through the Dawn). In 2007 she collaborated with the Berg Chamber Orchestra on the performance Čtyři temperamenty (Four Temperaments) to Paul Hindemith’s music. In 1999 she took part in Vienna’s CONTEST, where she won first prize. In 2000 she came second in the Competition of Dance Artists of the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic in Brno and in 2006 she participated in the Zóna dance festival in Ostrava. In 2007 she received the Award for Singularity at the 1st international choreography competition in Pilsen.
