Günther Groissböck

Austrian bass Günther Groissböck makes his National Theatre Opera debut in the 2022/23 Season as Vodník (Rusalka). He is a regular guest at leading houses worldwide, such as the Metropolitan Opera, New York, La Scala, Milan, Bavarian State Opera, Vienna State Opera, Paris Opéra and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Salzburg and Bayreuth festivals. His operatic repertoire includes Baron Ochs (Der Rosenkavalier), Boris Godunov, Landgraf Herrmann (Tannhäuser), Hunding (Die Walküre), Veit Pogner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), Gurnemanz (Parsifal), King Heinrich (Lohengrin), Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Caspar (Der Freischütz), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Rocco (Fidelio), among others. He is also an active concert artist. As an exclusive DECCA Classic recording artist, he released several lieder albums. His latest DVD releases include Der Rosenkavalier from Salzburg and from the Metropolitan Opera and Beethoven's Symphony no. 9 with Philippe Jordan. He studied singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, first with Robert Holl and later with José van Dam.
