Biography

Italian tenor Francesco Castoro makes his National Theatre Opera debut in the 2022/23 season as Rodolfo (La bohème). He graduated from the Conservatory “Niccolò Piccinni” in Bari and continued his studies at Belcanto Academy “Rodolfo Celletti” in Martina Franca and “Accademia di Perfezionamento per Cantanti Lirici del Teatro alla Scala” (2015–2017), where he performed in La bohème, Falstaff, Die Zauberflöte, La fanciulla del West and Giordano’s La cena delle beffe. His recent performances include Lucrezia Borgia (Gennaro) at Teatro Comunale in Bologna and in Reggio Emilia; La bohème (Rodolfo) in Warsaw and Teatro Comunale in Bologna; Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton) at Teatro Verdi in Trieste; La rondine (Ruggero) at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; La traviata (Alfredo) in Copenaghen, at Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Theater St Gallen and in Bologna and the title role in Enrico di Borgogna at Festival Donizetti in Bergamo.
