
Dorota Karolczak

Born in Bydgoszcz, Poland, Dorota Karolczak has worked on numerous opera and drama projects with such prominent European companies as the Semperoper in Dresden, Deutsches Theater in Berlin, Oper Graz, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Oper Halle, Theater Augsburg and Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw. The most recent opera productions in which she participated include Rinaldo (Händel-Festspiele Halle), Il barbiere di Siviglia (Deutsches Nationaltheater in Weimar), Elżbieta Sikora’s Dorian Gray (Teatr Wielkii im. Stanisław Moniuszki, Poznań), Die Zauberflöte, Albert Herring and Les contes d’Hoffmann (Oper Halle), La Cenerentola (Oper Graz), Nabucco (Deutsche Oper am Rhein) and Rusalka (Theater Regensburg and Poznań). In 2021, she collaborated on Sláva Daubnerová’s production of Tosca, staged at the Staatstheater Kassel. Dorota Karolczak studied architecture in Spain, Poland and Germany, and theatre design at the Technische Universität Berlin. Besides theatre, she has worked on short and feature films, advertisements, music videos, curated exhibitions and site‑specific projects.
