Guest of the Opera


Born in Munich, soprano Cornelia Ptassek makes his National Theatre Opera debut in 2020/21 season as Grete (Schreker: Der ferne Klang). After first experiences at the theaters in Bremen, Schwerin, Flensburg and Bremerhaven, she was engaged at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (2005–2016), where she created, among others, Cherubini’s Medée, Mozart’s Elettra (Idomeneo), Strauss’ Salome, Schreker’s Grete (Der ferne Klang) and Gluck’s Alceste. She has been working as a freelancer since the 2016/17 season. Guest performances have taken her to the Stuttgart State Opera (Cherubini’s Medea and Strauss’ Ariadne), Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius (Mozart’s Elettra), Theater Freiburg (Strauss’ Ariadne), Staatstheater Mainz (Cherubini’s Medea and Wagner’s Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville (as Wagner’s Helmwige in Die Walküre), Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris (Marschallin in Strauss’ Rosenkavalier), Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich (Mozart’s Pamina in Die Zauberlöte and Verdi’s Violetta in La traviata), Theater Basel (Wagner’s Elsa in Lohengrin), Theater Trier (Wagner’s Senta in Der fliegende Holländer), Theater Lübeck (Strauss’ Ariadne and Korngold’s Heliane in Das Wunder der Heliane) and Theater Chemnitz (Wagner’s Freia in Das Rheingold, Gutrune in Götterdämmerung and Elsa in Lohengrin).
