Biography

Christopher Leimgruber, tenor, is excited to be in Prague this summer singing the role of Don Basilio in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. Chris will be a third-year at the Oberlin Conservatory studying under Salvatore Champagne. Recently at Oberlin, he sang the role of Count Alberto in Rossini’s L’occasione fa il ladro. Chris is well-versed in a wide variety of opera. In his first year at Oberlin, he was in Handel’s Acis and Galatea and also premiered the role of Gil in Matthew Recio’s The Puppy Episode. In February, Chris won the undergraduate Schmidt Vocal Arts Competition, and in 2020 he was a National YoungArts finalist. Chris has sung at Carnegie Hall with the Oberlin College Choir twice in the past year. In his free time, Chris enjoys the outdoors and listening to Tito Schipa.
