The Macedonian tenor Blagoj Nacoski was born in 1979 in Skopje. He studied music and opera singing both in Macedonia and in Italy, first with his mother, and later with Mirella Parutto and Antonio Boyer in Rome and with Silvia Bossa in Florence. He made his opera debut in 2003 at the Rome Opera House performing the role of Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor under the baton of Daniel Oren. Since then he has performed at the most prestigious theaters and festivals including Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Salzburg Festival, Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Seattle Opera, Opernhaus Zurich, Frankfurt Oper, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, La Monnaie in Bruxelles, Macedonian National Opera of Skopje, Polish National Opera of Warsaw, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Stuttgart State Opera, Canadian Opera Company of Toronto, Teatro Solìs of Montevideo, Theatro Municipal of San Paolo, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Theater, The New National Theater of Tokyo, Suntory Hall of Tokyo, and many others, singing roles like Mozart’s Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Scipione (Il sogno di Scipione), Donizetti’s Ernesto (Don Pasquale) and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Rossini’s Lindoro (L’Italiana in Algeri), Don Narciso (Il Turco in Italia) and Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Bellini’s Elvino (La sonnambula), Britten’s Peter Quint (The Turn of the Screw) and Lysander (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Golo (Schumann: Genoveva) etc. Blagoj Nacoski is also a dedicated concert singer. He has performed with conductors such as Nicola Luisotti, Daniel Oren, Ivor Bolton, Bruno Bartoletti, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Riccardo Frizza, Thomas Guschlbauer, Paul Daniel, Julia Jones, Robin Ticciati or Marcello Rota and stage directors Graham Vick, Daniele Abbado, Michael Hampe, Jürgen Flimm, Christof Loy, John Cox, Claus Guth, Michael Sturminger and others. His discography include DVD recording of Mozart’s Il Sogno di Scipione (Deutsche Grammophon) and Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos (TDK), CD recording of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor (Dynamic) and Flavio Calusso’s Te Deum (MR Classics). In 2008, he was nominated “Ambassador of the Culture of Macedonia” on behalf of the Macedonian Government. His next engagements include Don Ottavio in Pisa and Bangkok, Alessandro (Mozart: Il re pastore) in Trieste, The Dancing Master and Brighella (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos) in Montevideo (Uruguay), Gonzalve (Ravel: L'heure espagnole) and Fisherman (Stravinsky: Le Rossignol) at Amsterdam Concertgebouw etc.
