Beatrice Kim

Biography

Beatrice Kim is a Korean-American soprano working towards her Performance Diploma in Solo Performance at the Jacob’s School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Carol Vaness. Stage credits include Amore in L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), Laura in Goblin Market (Harmon/Pen), L’Enfant in L'enfant et les sortilèges (Ravel), Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (Humperdinck), La Conversa and La Cercatrice in Suor Angelica (Puccini), Ella in Patience (Gilbert/Sullivan). Prior to their cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Beatrice was scheduled to cover Despina in Cedar Rapids Opera’s production of Così fan tutte as a Young Artist. Kim holds a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music and a BM from the University of Oklahoma. Beatrice has been lauded for her dynamic performances and versatile repertoire ranging from opera, art song, musical theater, Korean folk song, and chamber music. Her solo concert work ranges from Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Richard Einhorn’s Voices of Light, Haydn’s Heiligmesse, and two concerts in Germany, with reviews praising her “expressive voice that conquers the hearts of the listeners”. Off the stage, Beatrice is also an avid supporter of opera outreach education programs, and works for the non-profit organization “What is Opera, Anyway?” that aims to cultivate a love and understanding of opera for anyone at any age.
