Antoine Vereecken

Biography

Antoine Vereecken is a Belgian dancer, coach and repetiteur, formerly a member of Random Dance, currently an assistant to the choreographer Wayne McGregor. He began dancing at the age of 16 in Antwerp. In the 1990s, he performed and toured with Les Ballets C de la B under Alain Platel, and joined the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Israel, led by Rami Be’er. In the early 2000s, he performed with the Richard Alston Dance Company, London. In 2004, he joined Random Dance, and later became an assistant of the company’s Artistic Director, Wayne McGregor.

Vereecken has restaged McGregor’s ballets with companies throughout the world, including the Teatro alla Scala, The National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet, the Bolshoi in Moscow and the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg. He has also worked as an educator, teaching at the Royal Ballet School, London Contemporary Dance School, English National Ballet School and D.A.N.C.E., among others. In 2012, he won an Isadora Duncan Award for his restaging of McGregor’s Chroma for the San Francisco Ballet.
