Biography

Paul Abraham’s operetta Ball im Savoy in the 2022/23 season is the first National Theatre Opera production Anna Novotná Pešková is conducting. Nevertheless, since 2015, as a conductor and choirmaster of the Children’s Opera Prague, she has worked on a number of opera performances and concerts at the National and Estates Theatres (The Bartered Bride, Rusalka, Opera Is Fun, Jan Kučera’s opera The Gingerbread House, etc.). She has also participated in many Children’s Opera Prague foreign tours (performances at the EXPO 2015 in Milan, as well as in Paris, London, Tokyo, Dortmund, Bayreuth, etc.). In 2017 Anna Novotná Pešková completed her classical singing studies at the Prague Conservatory, where from 2013 she also took conducting lessons from Miriam Němcová, Miroslav Košler and Hynek Farkač. Previously working as a chorus master of university choirs, she currently teaches, including conducting at the Prague Conservatory. Moreover, she has been invited to sit on juries of music competitions. Anna Novotná Pešková has collaborated with the Smečky Music Studios, participating in recordings of film and incidental music. Since 2017 she has worked with the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec, where in 2020 she debuted as a conductor (Don Giovanni) and in 2022 was second conductor of a production of Jan Kučera’s opera The Legend of the Misty Mountains, which received its world premiere on 20 May 2022 with the composer conducting.
