Biography

Soprano Anja-Katharina Wigger studied singing in her native Hamburg and later she honed her technique with Prof. Ingeborg Hallstein in Munich. She took part in master classes led by Kurt Widmer, Neil Semer, and Marita Knobel. In summer 2008 she guest appeared at the Seefestspielen Mörbisch, where she performed Ottilia in the production of the operetta Im weißen Rössl by Ralph Benatzky, which was broadcast live at ORF and TV 3SAT. The most important opera roles of Anja-Katharina Wigger include Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Micaela (Carmen), and Baronin Freimann (Albert Lortzing: Der Wildschütz). Her operetta roles include Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Sylva Varescu (Emmerich Kálmán: Die Csárdásfürstin), Hanna Glawari (Franz Lehár: Die lustige Witwe), Laura (Karl Millöcker: Der Bettelstudent), Evelyne Valera (Fred Raymond: Maske in Blau), Julia (Eduard Künnecke: Vetter aus Dingsda), Ottilie (Im weißen Rössl), Regine (Friedrich Schröder: Hochzeitsnacht im Paradies), and Kurfürstin Marie (Carl Zeller: Der Vogelhändler). Currently she is studying Violetta (La traviata), the title role of Massenet‘s Manon, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Mrs. Fluth (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor). Anja-Katharina Wigger has perfomed in the theaters in Würzburg, Kaiserslautern, Görlitz, at the Stadttheater Passau, the Operetten-Theater Hannover, the Kornmarkttheater Bregenz, Seefestspiele Mörbisch, Schlossgartenfestspiele Neustrelitz, and Freilichtspiele Tecklenburg. As a concert singer she has cooperated with Münchner Symphoniker and Klassikphilharmonie Hamburg, and she has participated in many studio concerts and radio recordings.
