At the State Opera in Prague he made his debut in May 2022 conducting Verdi's La traviata.
Andriy Yurkevych, born in Zboriv (Ukraine), graduated in Orchestral Conducting in 1999 at the Lyssenko Musical Academy of Lviv (Ukraine), department Orchestral Conducting, under the guidance of Yuriy Lutsiv. The same year, he was awarded a special prize at the Turchak National Competition in Kiev. Afterwards he professionalized at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw with Jacek Kaspszyk and at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (Italy) with Gianluigi Gelmetti, in Pescara with Donato Renzetti, in Pesaro with Alberto Zedda.
Since 1996 he has been resident conductor at the National Opera in Lviv where he made his debut in several operas and ballets. In 2002 Andriy Yurkevych moves to Italy and since that time he continues his career abroad. Sometimes he returns to Ukraine for special creative projects. After his debut in Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca (Italy) and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma in 2005 he receives engagements in many Italian theatres and worldwide, among which Vienna State Opera, State Opera Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, Vlaamse Operas, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Municipal in Santiago (Chile), San Francisco Opera, Theater St. Gallen, Greek National Opera in Athens, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Cologne, Zürich, Budapest, and many other opera houses.
In different years he was Musical director at the National Opera Theatre in Odessa (Ukraine), Warsaw National Opera, Moldavian National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. He became a laureate at International Opera Awards (8 edition “Opera Star”) - Gli Oscar della Lirica. Andriy Yurkevych posseses the title of Honored artist of Ukraine and Moldova.
