Biography

Mexican tenor Alejandro Del Angel makes his National Theatre Opera debut in June 2023, as Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana, the State Opera new production). He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City. He is currently a member of the Opera Zurich Opera Studio (2021/2022 and 2022/2023). Alejandro Del Angel is a prize-winner of several national and international competitions; in June 2022 he won the third prize in the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw. He has performed in opera houses and concert halls in Mexico, USA, Colombia, Switzerland and Spain. In Zurich, he has created 2nd Jew (Salome), Gérard (Le comte Ory), Malcolm (Macbeth), Borsa (Rigoletto), Abdallo (Nabucco) and the 1st armoured man (Die Zauberflöte), and at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo he has guest-appeared as Gastone (La traviata).
