Biography
Polish mezzo-soprano Agnieszka Rehlis makes her National Theatre Opera debut in 2020/21 season as Amneris (Aida). Her 20/21 season features also her house debut at the Teatro alla Scala Milano as Deaconess in King Roger. At the Opera Australia she will be heard in the role of Amneris and she will take on Lucretia in Rape of Lucretia at the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse. In the coming seasons Rehlis is set to debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Dutch National Opera and return to the Opernhaus Zürich as well as Opera Australia Sydney. Rehlis’s 2019/2020 season was marked by her house debuts at the the Bavarian State Opera as Fenena in Nabucco, at the Ópera de Oviedo as Waltraute in Götterdämmerung, and the Teatro de la Maestranza with the role of Azucena in Il trovatore. She returned to the Opernhaus Zürich as the mezzo soloist in the staged version of Verdi Requiem, Komische Oper Berlin with Khivrya in The Fair at Sorochyntsi and to the Aalto Musiktheater Essen as Amneris. Recent seasons highlights include Anna (Les Troyens) for Semperoper Dresden, Mother Superior/Fortune-teller/Landlady (The Fiery Angel) for Opernhaus Zürich, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Scottish Opera in Glasgow, Polish National Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid and Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Liese and Hannah (Weinberg: The Passenger) at the Bregenz Festival, Polish National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Lincoln Center Festival, Lyric Opera of Chicago and Florida Grand Opera, Mafio Orsini (Lucrezia Borgia) and Fenena at the Polish National Opera, Amneris for Estonian National Opera, Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Krakow Opera, Azucena (Il trovatore) for Theater Erfurt and Konzert Theater Bern. An accomplished performer of modern music, she has performed in concert of works composed and conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki, participated in the world premiere of his Symphony No. 8 Lieder der Vergänglichkeit, and is featured in the Grammy Award winning recording of Penderecki conducts Penderecki. She has also participated in rendering of his Symphony No. 8 at the Prague Spring Festival 2007 (Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadeusz Strugala). Agnieszka Rehlis graduated from the Academy of Music in Wrocław, and in 1996–2007 she was a soloist of the Wrocław Opera. Since 2007 she has been an independent artist.
