Adriana Kohútková studied voice at the University of Performing Arts in Bratislava with Professor Hana Štolfová-Bandová. In 1993 she became an opera soloist of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, where she has enacted a number of world operatic repertoire roles including, for example, Mozart’s Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte); Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Marie (La fille du régiment), Adina (L’elisir d’amore) and Lucrezia Borgia; Verdi’s Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata) and Elena (I vespri siciliani); Tatiana (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin), Nedda (Leoncavallo: I pagliacci), Amina (Bellini: La sonnambula), Puccini’s Mimì (La bohème) and Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly), Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen), Marguerite (Gounod: Faust), Chrysosthemis (R. Strauss: Elektra), Dvořák‘s Rusalka, as well as Rosalinde (J. Strauss: Die Fledermaus) and Hana Glawari (Lehár: The Merry Widow). She has made several foreign tours with the Slovak National Theatre’s opera company. In Paris, for instance, she sang Offenbach’s Olympia (Les contes d’Hoffmann) and in Japan Puccini’s Musetta (La bohème) and Verdi's Violetta (La traviata). She has also performed at Grand Théâtre de Genève as Luisa (Prokofiev: Betrothal in a Monastery), in Budapest as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), at Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Mařenka (Smetana: The Bartered Bride). In 2005 she extended her repertoire with the role of Armgard in Offenbach’s opera Die Rheinnixen, in which she performed in this opera’s first historical stage version in Ljubljana. In 2010 she guest appeared as Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw and in 2012 as Desdemona (Verdi: Otello) at the Pafos Aphrodite Festival Cyprus. Adriana Kohútková is a permanent guest of both Prague opera stages and has worked with the Czech and Slovak philharmonic orchestras, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, Bamberger Symphoniker, and with the conductors Ondrej Lenárd, Jiří Bělohlávek, Vladimír Válek, Peter Maag, Sylvain Cambreling, Jonathan Darlington, Oliver Dohnányi, Ralf Weikert, James Judd, Serge Baudo, Friedrich Haider, Zdeněk Mácal, Rastislav Štúr, Petr Altrichter and others. When it comes to concerts, she has performed on a host of stages abroad and her repertoire includes Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater and The Spectre’s Bride, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. Her discography includes the title role in the world premiere recording of the opera Gwendoline by Emmanuel Chabrier, Respighi‘s opera La bella dormente nel bosco (label Marco Polo), live recording of Janáček’s songs for the French radio station and others.
