Biography

Slovak soprano Adriana Banásová will make her debut at the National Theatre Opera in Prague as First Wood Nymph in a new production of Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák in March 2024.

Adriana Banásová made her debut in Slovak National Theatre as Sister Genovieffa and Nella
(Il Trittico/Puccini), later as Second wood sprite (Rusalka/Dvořák), Voice of the High Priestess (Aida/Verdi), Annina (La Traviata/Verdi), Tebaldo/Voce dal cielo (Don Carlo/Verdi), Marka (Krútňava/Suchoň) or Julia (A fairy tale of happy end/Zagar). With Il Trittico production she performed as a soloist at the festival Opera 2017 in Prague (CZ).
Her mainstage works include Zerlina (Don Giovanni/Mozart), Nannetta (Falstaff/Verdi), both in State theatre Košice (SK). With Falstaff production, directed by Oscar-winning Jiří Menzel, also successfully featured at the Summer opera festival in Sopron 2018 (HU) and at the festival Opera 2020 in Prague (CZ). September 2018 marked her debut as Vixen Sharp-Ears (The Cunning little vixen) at the Silesian theatre in Opava (CZ). Banásová also made her debut in National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava (CZ) as well, with roles Sister Genovieffa and Nella. Both of roles she sang at the Smetana´s Litomyšl Opera festival 2019 (CZ).
In 2021 she have recorded her debut aria album Desire with slovak pianist Peter Pažický, released in publishing Real Music House. On march 2024 is mark her debut in the National Theatre Prague as the First Wood Sprite in Rusalka.
She performed at a festival Castle games of Zvolen ("Youth at Castle") (SK) or music cycle Continuity (Slovak National Theatre), and also cooperated with Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, State Philharmonic Košice (SK), Philharmonic in Brno (CZ), Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra (CZ), Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina (SK), State opera Banská Bystrica (SK), Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (CZ), baroque orchestra Solamente Naturali (SK) and others.
The soprano has been awarded several prizes at the international competitions, such as Antonin Dvorak's International Singing Competition 2019 and 2015 in Karlovy Vary (CZ), Bologna International Vocal Competition 2018 (IT) or International Competition Iuventus Canti 2016 (SK). She has been finalist in Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition 2022 (AT). She also participated in the Riccardo Zandonai International Singing Competition 2022 in Italy (semifinal), Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition 2021 in Poland (semifinal), Hans Gabor Belvedere International Competition 2019 (Austrian final rounds), Otto Edelmann Singing Competition 2016 in Vienna (semifinal) or Competition dell´Opera in Linz 2015 (semifinal).
Adriana Banásová graduated as an opera-student from the Conservatory in Bratislava under the oversight of Dagmar Livorova, later she studied under the tutorage of Zlatica Livorova. In addition, she has participated in the International Summer Music Academy in Kroměříž 2022 under the tutorage of Kateřina Kňežíková, where she has been awarded as laureat of academy or Singing master courses of Peter Dvorský in 2015 and 2016.
