Richard Wagner's opera The Valkyrie, part of the famous tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung, will be performed on the stage of the State Opera in an original interpretation for the first time in more than a quarter of a century. The Dresden Music Festival orchestra and Concerto Köln will provide an extraordinary experience, playing replicas of period instruments under the direction of star conductor Kent Nagano. A single concert performance on 9 March 2024 at 5pm at the State Opera, Prague.

In 2024, the Dresden Festival orchestra and Concerto Köln, conducted by Kent Nagano, will perform The Valkyrie in those European cities with a long Wagnerian tradition. The tour opens on 9 March in Prague, which became one of the most important Wagnerian centres in the second half of the 19th century, surpassing Leipzig, Dresden and Berlin, then followed by Amsterdam, Cologne, Hamburg, Dresden and Lucerne.

Wagner's tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung will be performed for the first time on period instruments. In November 2021, the first part of the tetralogy, Das Rheingold, was presented in this way at the Cologne Philharmonic. The entire project will be completed in 2026, the 150th anniversary of the first performance of the Ring in Bayreuth.
