Ballet

There are two dancers from the Czech National Ballet nominated.

There are two dancers from the Czech National Ballet nominated for the prize Thalia Awards 2019 in the Dance and Theatre of movement. Both of them showed exceptional artistic excellence in La Fille mal gardée (The Wayward Daughter).

Alina Nanu, the first soloist of the Czech National Ballet, is nominated for the role of Lise.
“As if the role was made especially for her!” It sounds like a cliché but if you watch Alina dancing, you must agree. She is playful, naughty and sweet and you don’t even realize what skill she demonstrates while coming to terms with Ashton’s choreography full of difficult technical moves and demanding steps.

Matěj Šust, the soloist of the Czech National Ballet, is nominated for the role of Colas.
By interpreting Colas with bravura, Matěj has shown again that he is one of the greatest dancers of his generation. He is authentic, easy and convincing, dances with lightness, precision and a sense of humor even though Frederick Ashton’s choreography is highly demanding. He is a reliable partner for Alina Nanu in the duets and synchronizes his dance phrases with music perfectly.

Congratulations! We are keeping our fingers crossed!
