Terezín Summer Academy and concert at Jerusalem Synagogue
From 15 to 18 August, the 2nd year of the Terezín Music Academy will take place in Terezín and Prague as part of the Musica non grata project in cooperation with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Czech Republic and the Terezín Composers' Institute.
The place where art soothed pain and gave hope during the Second World War and where the masterpieces of the interned Czech-German Jewish composers were created in the bleak conditions of the concentration camp will once again be filled with music. Concerts, lectures, public rehearsals and workshops, including music workshops for the pupils of the Litoměřice Music School, have been prepared for the participants of the Academy and for the public. The closing concert of the Terezín Music Academy will take place at the Jerusalem Synagogue in Prague on Thursday 18th August from 19.00. The Terezín Summer Academy Students and the members of the State Opera Chorus will perform together Erwin Schulhoff‘s H.M.S. Royal Oaks. Jazz oratorio on words by Otto Rombach for a speaker, jazz singer, mixed choir and jazz orchestra (arranged for small ensemble by Frank Engel).
