The ballet Kafka: The Trial is created by an Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti. Fascinated by the irresistible language of Franz Kafka and a lasting up-to-dateness of his novel, Bigonzetti let himself be drawn into the dark world of Josef K. and created a modern ballet full of dramatic twists. Impressive stage design and film projection by Carlo Cerri complete the atmosphere of the production in a persuasive way.

The Czech premiere of the ballet took place in the Estates Theatre in Prague on June 13, 2019, with Ondřej Vinklát performing the main part of Josef K. Ondřej received the Thalia Award for his achievement.

The ballet version of the legendary novel revives and cocreates Kafka’s Prague milieu in an original and artistically valuable way. Both performances will be recorded by the French MEZZO TV, a prestigious channel, in cooperation with the Czech Television. MEZZO will premiere Kafka: The Trial this year.
