National Theatre in Prague: open call for international residency

The National Theatre’s Drama Department launches a call to submit applications on a 3 to 4 weeks residency programme for European playwrights and dramaturgs. All authors working on a script for a theatre project or in the research phase for an upcoming work are eligible to apply. We welcome all approaches to writing and all types of creative engagement with the text, including innovative forms. The call for entries is open to both emerging and established artists. The selected authors are not required to present the progress of their work during the residency, but will be invited to participate in networking and other artistic events.  

The residency should take place during October 2026–February 2027. 

To participate, please send an email to Linda Duskova, dramaturg for international projects, with a single PDF file containing the following information: 

1. A brief biography (max. 10 lines)
2. A structured resume with links to previous work if applicable (max. 1 page)  
3. Description of the project you wish to work on during the residency (max. 1 page)
4. Preferred period and length of your stay (min 3, max 4 weeks)

The National Theatre in Prague will cover:   

1. travel expenses from European countries to Prague
2. accommodation with a workspace for writing
3. a living expense allowance of 200 EUR per week
