Modernization of energy infrastructure
19/1/2026
After almost fifty years, the energy infrastructure of the National Theater complex is undergoing a major upgrade. The original diesel generator from 1978 has been replaced by two new TEDOM Quanto 600 cogeneration units, which will ensure more modern, efficient, and sustainable heat and electricity production for the entire complex.
The installed units, with a total output of 1.2 MW, represent a significant technological advance. Their transport and installation on the fifth basement floor of the operations building was technically and logistically challenging – among other things, the route led through temporarily removed ceiling sections with the help of a crane. The entire process took place while the theater was in full operation and required careful coordination of all professions involved.
The technology replacement is being carried out as part of an EPC project, which is being implemented at the National Theater by Enetiqa Solutions. The project is part of a broader modernization of the energy infrastructure and is also related to the planned reconstruction of the New Stage.
The replacement is part of a broader modernization of the energy infrastructure. Sustainability is a long-term priority for the National Theater—not only on stage, but also behind the scenes.
The sustainability of the National Theater is supported by the FEDORA Platform and co-financed by the European Union.
