Miss Julie arriving soon from Plzeň!

13/4/2017

Ballet

We cordially invite you to a performance to be given by the J. K. Tyl Theatre Ballet in Plzeň on 22 May 2017 at 8 pm at the New Stage.

or the very first time in the history of our theatre, the choreographer and director Libor Vaculík, a permanent guest of the Plzeň ballet company, will present at the New Stage his adaptation of Miss Julie by the Swedish author August Strindberg, to music by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks. The naturalistic play, which stirred up controversy at the time of its coming into being, portrays the intimate relationship between the noblewoman Julie and the servant Jean, which is at stark variance with the social convention. Vaculík’s dance idiom profoundly reflects the psychology of Strindberg’s heroes, as performed by the leading dancers of the Plzeň ballet company.

Come to the New Stage on 22 May.

The tickets are already on sale!
