National Theater Material Bank

30/12/2023

Sustainability

The National Theater has introduced a system for reusing decorations through a "material bank" project, which enables digital cataloging, recycling, and reuse of components.
This approach promotes sustainability and leads to more efficient operations by simplifying access to the furniture collection while reducing waste.

How does the reuse system work?

Material bank: The theater has set up a "material bank" for better management and use of decoration materials.

Digital catalog: An online database (FURNITURE CATALOG) has been created with information about the furniture collection, which makes it easier to view and allows for loans.

Electronic records: The catalog allows users to search the inventory without having to physically visit the warehouse.

Warehouse "cleanup": Part of the project involved "cleaning up" the warehouse, discarding unusable items and adding new finds that were not in the records.

Project goal

Reducing waste: The main goal is to reduce the waste of financial and natural resources through reuse.

Promoting sustainability: This principle is part of the National Theater's commitment to more responsible operations.

Operational efficiency: The system allows for more efficient management and use of a large number of decorations and furniture.

Plans for the future

In the future, there are plans to create a similar catalog for costumes and props.

The project was implemented with the support of the City of Prague.
