Die Entführung aus dem Serail again at the Estates Theatre
The work that marked the beginning of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s triumph in Prague returned in December to the Estates Theatre.
In the spring of 1783, Die Entführung aus dem Serail was performed at the Nostitz Theatre (today’s Estates Theatre), as Mozart’s first dramatic piece to have been staged in Prague. The performance was the very first the singspiel was given outside Vienna. The present production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail features an attractive scenography, drawing upon the period architecture. In the current season, the role of Konstanze is being portrayed by superlative Czech singers: Jana Šrejma Kačírková, who has received three prestigious Thalia Awards, and Olga Jelínková, the winner of the audience poll of the Opera Plus online magazine. Appearing in the lead male role are the internationally renowned Czech tenors Aleš Briscein and Richard Samek.
Performances: 14 and 20 December 2017, 12 and 21 January 2018.
