Biography

Václav Zahradník hails from a family of musicians. He studied the piano and conducting at the Teplice Conservatory. After graduating, he was a rehearsal accompanist and pianist at the Czech National Ballet in Prague for seven seasons before moving to the State Opera to work as a rehearsal accompanist of its ballet company. His conducting debut was with the production of Giselle (with Daria Klimentová in the titular role). As a conductor, he has also worked with the Plzeň Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he prepared an anniversary concert of the rock band Arakain, which was released on CD and DVD. Furthermore, Václav Zahradník is a composer and music arranger, collaborating with performers of classical and pop music. Since the 2012/13 season he was worked at The Czech National Ballet as a conductor and a rehearsal accompanist (Swan Lake, The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Americana III, Czech Ballet Symphony II, Romeo and Juliet, La Bayadère, The Snow Queen, La Fille mal gardée, Timeless).
