Biography

Petr Louženský ranks among the most talented Czech conductors of the youngest generation. He undertook his studies of flute play at the Prague Conservatoire with Jan Riedlbauch and of conducting with Miroslav Košler and Miriam Němcová. He went on to study Hebrew and Arabic at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University in Prague where he is currently finishing his postgraduate studies. Additionally, he is studying conducting at the Academy of Music in Prague with Jiří Chvála and Tomáš Koutník. Petr Louženský he has been acting as a conductor of Hostivař Chamber Orchestra with which ensemble he became the multiple laureate of radio Concerto Bohemia competition and laureate of national-wide competition of Elementary art schools. He has been cooperating regularly with Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Philharmonia, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of South Bohemia and others. In 2010, under his conducting, Kühn Children’s Choir was awarded the first prize in the category of children’s choirs at one of the greatest competitions in choral singing in the world in Arezzo, Italy. On the same occasion, Petr Louženský was also awarded a special prize for the best conductor of the whole competition.
