Patrick Delcroix

Biography

 

Patrick Delcroix studied at the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower in Cannes and the École de Danse Colette Soriano in Orthez, France. In 1982, he joined the Iwanson Dance Company in Munich, before being engaged
by the Scapino Ballet in Rotterdam and the Nederlands Dans Theater I, where, under the direction of Jiří Kylián, he danced from 1986 to 2003. During the 17 years at the NDT, he worked extensively with numerous celebrated choreographers, including William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Edouard Lock, Nacho Duato, Hans van Manen and Jiří Kylián, with whom he created many ballets. Patrick Delcroix‘s choreographic career began with his participation in the NDT annual workshops, which were introduced in 1988. He was further encouraged to pursue this path by Jiří Kylián, who invited him to create numerous works for NDT 1, 2 and 3. To date, Delcroix has created and restaged over 40 works for 25 companies worldwide. In 2001, he was knighted by the French government for his services to the arts and named
a Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
