Mathias Deneux

Soloist of The Czech National Ballet

Born in 1988 in France, from 1997 to 2002 he trained at the Ballet du Nord (P. Minam Barier) and between 2002 and 2006 gained professional education at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) under D. Agésilas. He possesses a diploma as a classical dancer and actor from the CNSMDP. He trained in various techniques: classical ballet (S. Soloviev, C. Atanassoff), pas de deux (A. Debrus), contemporary ballet (S. Alexander, A. Lafonta), composition/improvisation (C. Gérard), jazz (C. Bisson), character dance (R. Barbacaru). In 2006 he obtained the French BAC in Literature and Arts and in the same year he joined the CNSMDP, where he danced under the tutelage of the ballet master Muriel Belmondo. In 2007 he was engaged at the Ballet Biarritz (Artistic Director: Thierry Malandain) and in 2008 at West Australian Ballet in Perth (Artistic Director: Ivan Cavallari). In 2010 he became a member of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague, where he has performed in the ballets Cinderella (choreography: Jean-Christophe Maillot) in the roles of the Prince’s Friend and Organiser, The Rite of Spring (choreography: Petr Zuska) and Swan Lake (choreography: Kenneth Greve after M. Petipa). Moreover, he has danced in the ballets Don Quixote (Gamache), Suite No.2 (choreography: Uwe Scholz), The Games We Play (choreography: Timothy O’Donnell), Romeo and Juliet (choreography: Youri Vamos), Giselle, Lickety Split (choreography: Alejandro Cerrudo), It Is (choreography: Cass Mortimer-Eipper), Papillon (choreography: David Mack), Casse Noisette (choreography: Ivan Cavallari), Lacrimosa (choreography: Nathalie Weir), Bolero (choreography: Petr Zuska), The Taming of the Shrew (choreography: John Cranko). He has also appeared in works by Thierry Malandain, Philipe Tréhet, José Martinez, August Bournonville, George Balanchine, Harold Lander and Andy Degroat.
