Linda Ballová

Biography

She graduated from the Evangelical lyceum and also studied regularly with the famous pedagogue Ruthilde Boesch in Vienna. At the State Conservatory in Bratislava she studied under the guidance of Dagmar Livorová. At The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava she began as a mezzo-soprano with Forsythia Livorová. In the first year Linda debuted at the State Theatre in Košice with the role of Siébel in Gounod's Faust and with the role of Gianetta in Donizetti's Elixir of Love (both in season 2006/07). At The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava she first appeared in the role of nymph Dryad in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos (2006/07), and later again as Siébel (2008/09) and as Cherubino in Mozart's Marriage of Figaro (2008/09). In the same season, she was cast as Zelatrice in Puccini's Sister Angelica at The State Opera Banská Bystrica. In The Slovak National Theatre she sang Fyodor in Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov. A crucial turning point in her artistic development was a change in the field to soprano. The accuracy of this step proved right when she got cast in the role of Milada in Smetana's Dalibor (2009/10), which was already a huge success for her at the Smetanova Litomyšl festival and later at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. Since 2010, she is a regular guest in Ostrava as Mařenka in Smetana 's Bartered Bride. With the ensemble of Moravian Theatre Olomouc Linda encountered extraordinary success at the Smetanova Litomyšl festival. As a soprano she debuted in Slovak National Theatre (SND) as Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni (2011) and continued as Mařenka (2011) and Janáček's Jenůfa (2012). In season 2012/13 she appeared in SND's drama The Clouds by Aristophanes. She performed as Nedda in the same season in Wroclaw Opera in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. In season 2012/13 she won an audition for the role of Dvořák's Rusalka at Theater Aachen, where she received great praise from the audience and critics and on the basis of which she was offered the role of Jenůfa in the season 2014/15. In March 2014 she performed two concerts with José Cura, who himself demanded her as his guest. In the season 2013/14 she is performing in SND as Vitellia in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito. Also, she is currently starring as Donna Anna in the Belgian Alden Biezen.
