Biography

Has danced with Chamber Dance Studio in Czech Republic, with Czurda Tanztheater in Germany, Ultima Vez and Ernesto in Belgium. In 1993 she returned to Prague and taught contemporary dance technique at Duncan Centre Conservatory. One year later she founded and directed the Progressive European Dance Theatre Project, which in 1996 it became an international CONFRONTATIONS festival running in various Prague venues each October till 2003. In 1995 Flory founded Duncan Centre student company, which later transformed to a multinational company DEJA DONNE under the artistic direction of Simone Sandroni and Lenka Flory, and which operated in Prague until 2005. In 2006 company’s main residence moved to the province of Perugia in central Italy. Since 1997 Flory has been in charge of artistic co-direction, set & costume design, production and distribution for DEJA DONNE. Flory co-directed performances: Deja Donne (1997), Aria spinta (1999), In bella copia (2001), There where we were (2003), Piotr and the stars of tut (2005), My name is king (2006), Margine Buio (2007), A glimpse of hope (2008), P. S. Martina la ragione (2010). DEJA DONNE has toured in 25 countries of Europe, North America and Asia. Flory has been a guest choreographer at American Dance Festival in 1996, mentor to director Ghislaine Bodington in 1999 as a part of International Sommertheater Festival Hamburg‘s International Encounter and directed an International Dance Encounter at Aarhus Festuge, Denmark in 2002. In 2007 she was commissioned by Andee Scot and Fuse Box Festival in Austin Texas/USA to create a work All the Stories You Have Been Telling Me. In the same year she has created a commission entitled Earth for En-Knap Group, premiered at Stara Elektrarna in Ljubljana. Since 2005 Flory focuses also on creative process for youth in collaboration with basic and high schools in different European countries as “R.A.P. for children project” (Prague, London, Ludwigshafen, Stuttgart, Perugia) in 2006, 2007; “Progetto Spettacolo Umbria” (regional schools) in 2007, 2008 and a large youth project “Anna Tanzt” directed by Bayerisches Staatsballet in Munich in 2009, 2010.
