Biography
Born in Jawor, Poland, he studied singing with Bogdan Makal at the Music Academy in Wroclaw. He continued his studies in Milan with Rita Orlandi-Malaspina at the Giuseppe Verdi conservatoire, winning a scholarship at the International Music Academy in Milan. He is currently studying under Susanna Lotito’s guidance. Krystian Adam made his debut singing Conte d’Almaviva (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia), and he then performed the main roles in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and Il matrimonio segreto. He has sung in several festivals, such as Wratislavia Cantans, Tuscany Opera Festival, Nuove Settimane Barocche in Brescia and MiTo Festival in Milan. In September 2007 he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala singing one of the roles in the world première of Fabio Vacchi’s Teneke, Roberto Abbado conducting. In Poland, he was awarded the “Best debut of the year 2008” prize for his interpretation of the role of Tassilo in Kálmán’s Countess Maritza. Among his most recent engagements are: Bach’s Magnificat with the Orchestra Verdi in Milan, Bach’s Matthäus-Passion (Evangelist) with Capella Cracoviensis; Handel’s Israel in Egypt with I Barocchisti and Diego Fasolis in Lugano and at the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona; Der Mensch ein Gottesmorder by Leopold Mozart with Bozen Baroque Orchestra and Claudio Astronio in Wroclaw; Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Tempo) with Fabio Bonizzoni and La Risonanza in The Hague, Regensburg, Melk and Schärding; Il Finto Turco by Piccinni (world première in modern times) at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza with L’Arte dell’Arco and Federico Guglielmo, Handel’s Ariodante (Lurcanio) with Modo Antiquo and Federico Maria Sardelli at the Festival International de Musique Baroque de Beaune and at the Festival “Via Stellae” in Santiago de Compostela; Il barbiere di Siviglia (Almaviva) in Gliwice and Chorzow; Il mondo alla rovescia (Girasole) by Salieri (world première in modern times) at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona under the baton of Federico Maria Sardelli; Vivaldi’s Griselda (Corrado) and Handel’sTheodora (Septimus) with Capella Cracoviensis and Ian Adamus; Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Spirit and Sailor) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Gluck’s Le Cinesi at the Musikfestspiele in Potsdam with L’Arte del Mondo and Werner Erhardt; Vivaldi’s Ottone in Villa (Decio) at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik with Giovanni Antonini and Il Giardino Armonico; Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Pedrillo) on tour in Northern Italy with Corrado Rovaris and Jonathan Webb; La Giuditta (Oloferne) by Alessandro Scarlatti in Rotterdam with Hernán Schvartzman. He recorded Pergolesi’s Dixit Dominus for the Deutsche Grammophon, Claudio Abbado’s conducting.
