Biography
In summer 2014 the German Soprano Joo-Anne Bitter was given a guest performance at the Tyrolean Festival in Austria for the first time with the roles of Freia in Wagner’s Rheingold and 3. Norn (Cover) in Die Götterdämmerung under the baton of Gustav Kuhn, where she already sang before the Christmas Oratorio from Bach. Other engagements were leading here to the Czech Republic, where she performed Strauss’ Vier letzte Lieder with the North Czech Philharmonic Tepice conducted by Martin Lebel. Currently she prepares for the parts Eva in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger and Judith in Bartók’s Herzog Blaubarts Burg. Joo-Anne Bitter began her singing studies on a private Academy in Vienna after making her Master of Arts degree at the LMU Munich. She made her debut in 2008 at the Hamburg Chamber Opera with the part of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, followed by the performance of Leïla in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles at the Mauritius Opera Festival. At the South Thuringen State Opera she made her guest debut with the part of Laura in Millöcker’s famous Operetta Der Bettelstudent. On stage she performed roles including Agathe in Weber’s Der Freischütz, Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen,Malwina and Janthe in Marschner’s Der Vampyr, Rosalinde in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus and Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She has appeared in many concerts on international stages like Mexico, Norway, Austria, Italy and Czech Republic and has worked with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta. In 2013 Joo-Anne Bitter succeeded with the 3rd prize at the International Singing Competition ArtOpera in Frankfurt (D), in 2012 with the 2nd prize at the 47th International Singing Competition Antonín Dvořák (CZ) and at the International Singing Competition “La citta‘ sonora“ (I). In the past she has won three consecutive times the German music competition “Jugend musiziert“.
