Biography

Baritone Igor Loškár was born in the Slovak town of Michalovce. After graduating from high school, he entered the Conservatory in Bratislava where he studied in the class of Róbert Szűcs. In 2009, he won 1st prize at the Competition of Conservatory Students of Slovakia in Košice. In that same year he participated in the International Masterclasses for Opera Singers in Komárno under the direction of Dagmar Livorová. In 2010, at the 12th International Vocal Contest of Imrich Godina in Vrable, in addition to 3rd prize, he also won the Interpretative Music Centre Award for the most successful Slovak contestant and the Music Fund Award for the best interpretation of a composition by a Slovak composer. Also in 2010, Loškár received 3rd prize at the International Vocal Contest of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský in Trnava and in 2013 he was awarded both 1st prize and the overall winner at the Slovak Conservatories Competition. His debut as a soloist was in March 2012 during a concert tour of the USA. In February 2013 he participated in Gildo Di Nunzio’s Masterclasses at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. During his studies he already performed as a guest soloist with the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre Brno where since the 2013/2014 season he has been engaged.
