Biography

Guest of the National Theatre Opera. Annely Peebo hails from Estonia, where she studied voice and conducting. Subsequently, she studied voice under Prof. Gerhard Kahry at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Her repertoire comprises pivotal mezzo-soprano roles. She has sung Mozart’s Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte) at Milan’s Piccolo Teatro (director: G. Strehler), at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (director: M. Hampe), at Opéra de Nancy (director: P. Arlaud), in Lisbon, Ravenna, Caen, Lyon and at the Baden-Baden Festival; she has performed as Medoro (Händel: Orlando, director: R. Carsen) at Ravenna and Reggio Emilia, as Melibea (Rossini: Il viaggio a Reims, director: D. Fo) at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, as Nicklausse (Offenbach: Les contes d’Hoffmann) at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and as Flora (Verdi: La traviata, director: F. Zeffirelli) in Busseto, Ravenna, Ferrara, Reggio Emilia and Parma. Other roles of hers include Purcell’s Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Mozart’s Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Idamante (Idomeneo), Rossini’s Cinderella and Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Bizet’s Carmen, Strauss’s Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) and the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), etc. Annely Peebo is also a sought-after interpreter of the concert spiritual repertoire, including works by J. S. Bach (Passions and Christmas Oratorio), J. Haydn (masses), G. F. Händel (Messiah), W. A. Mozart (masses, Requiem), L. v. Beethoven (Symphony No. 9, Missa solemnis), A.
