Born in Messina (Sicily) Angelo Villari graduated in singing at the “A. Boito” Conservatory in Parma, where he also specialized at the Arturo Toscanini Foundation under the guidance of Alain Charles Billard. Angelo Villari won the first prize at the International Contest “Simone Alaimo, il Bel Canto” (2010) and he was finalist at the Lyric Contest Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago and he won the role of Il Duca of Mantua in Rigoletto in occasion of the Contest “Il Bel canto nella Valle dei Templi” in Agrigento (Sicily). At the beginning of his career he sang Galuppi’s Il filosofo di campagna, Mozart’s L’oca del Cairo, Donizetti’s Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali and Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto. In 2007 he sang in Verdi’s Luisa Miller under the baton of Donato Renzetti at the Festival Verdi in Parma, and at the Teatro Regio. He took part in the Schumann’s Scenes from Goethe’s Faust, in Il Corsaro and Lucia di Lammermoor. Active also on the concert side, he performed Verdi’s Requiem and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in Tivoli. Amongst the roles he sang it is worth mentioning: Canio in I Pagliacci, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Cavaradossi in Tosca and Alfredo in Traviata. Angelo Villari also performed in Cavalleria Rusticana in Lecce and at Teatro Argentina in Rome, in I Pagliacci in Malta, in Attila (Foresto) in Rovereto, Madama Butterfly in Lübeck and Il Trovatore in Bergamo. He recently got a resounding success singing the main role in Ennio Porrino’s I Shardana at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, conducted by Anthony Bramall in a new production by Davide Livermore (DVD by Dynamic). Angelo Villari opened the 40th Festival in Martina Franca singing the main tenor role in Casella’s La Donna Serpente, Fabio Luisi conducting, to great acclaim (DVD Bongiovanni). He then starred as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur for the Circuito Lirico Lombardo (Como, Pavia and Cremona) and as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, at the Caracalla Baths with the Rome Opera and at the Teatro Regio in Parma. In 2015 he sang the exceptionally demanding title role in Mascagni’s Guglielmo Ratcliff at Wexford Festival Opera under the baton of Francesco Cilluffo, gaining international critical acclaim (CD RTE Lyric). Recent engagements include: Il Trovatore in Catania, Respighi’s La campana sommersa at Teatro Lirico in Cagliari for the season's opening (DVD Arthaus) under Donato Renzetti; Madama Butterfly in Astana, at the Caracalla Baths in Rome under Yves Abel and in Palermo; Verdi’s Requiem with the Teatro Regio in Parma; Un Ballo in maschera at the Rome Opera under Jesus Lopez-Cobos and in Cagliari under Gérard Korsten; Tosca in Tours; Adriana Lecouvreur under Daniel Oren in Palermo and the European premiere of Marco Tutino's La Ciociara in Cagliari; La Forza del Destino in Giessen
