Biography

Soprano, Andrea Široká, née Priechodská, is a graduate of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno. Currently she is a soloist of the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre Brno where she has portrayed a variety of roles from the opera and operetta repertoire, such as Xenia (Boris Godunov), Frasquita (Carmen), Arsena (The Gypsy Baron), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Volpino (Lo speziale), Clorinda (La Cenerentola), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride).  In addition to performing with the Janáček Opera, she has also guested with the Brno City Theatre and worked with the opera company Orfeo. The concert repertoire of the singer focuses on both local and international musical works, as well as pre-romantic sacred music. On the concert stage, she regularly collaborates with the chamber orchestra, Czech Virtuosi, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlin. She was also able to show her musical versatility in the areas of musical theatre and blues during her collaboration with the Gustav Brom Orchestra.
