About
Established in New Yor, Shen Yun — “The beauty of divine beings dancing” — presents 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture full of enchanting beauty and inspiring wisdom, where maidens danced with ethereal grace and generals fought with explosive athleticism and where even magic was possible. Critics call the production exquisitely beautiful, a display of excellence, and even a source of hope.
“Absolutely marvelous. The imagination behind it and the creativity are incredible.”
—Dr. Irving Guttman, former Artistic Director, Vancouver Opera
"A really outstanding experience... something amazing."
—Vlastimil Harapes, Ballet Master
Featuring one of the world’s oldest art forms — classical Chinese dance — along with patented scenic effects and all-original orchestral works, Shen Yun opens a portal to a civilization of enchanting beauty and enlightening wisdom. Prepare for an experience that will take your breath away.
“There was something pure and bright and very dignified about them. The show gave me a real sense of goodness and meaning in life.”
—Anna Liceica, soloist, American Ballet Theater
Many of Shen Yun’s artists escaped China. Now, guided by their faith, propelled by their work ethic, and refreshed by the freedom they found in the U.S., these world-class artists took a profound culture almost lost under the tyranny of communism, and brought it back to life.
Critics call the production exquisitely beautiful, a display of excellence, and even a source of hope.
There is a massive power in this that can embrace the world. It brings great hope... It is truly a touch of heaven.”
—Daniel Herman, former Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic
"I have come to understand that you can heal with art – heal the soul, and it's beautiful!"
—Petr Mrkývka, Honorary Consul of Poland
Music With Roots That Run Five Millennia Deep
Shen Yun’s orchestra is one of a kind, harmoniously blending the distinct beauty of ancient Chinese instruments with the grandeur of a Western orchestra. The result is a gorgeous and vivid sound — perfect for bringing to life the soul of an ancient civilization.
“Simply gorgeous stage magic. A must-see!”
—Broadway World
In ancient China, the artists were turning to the heavens for inspiration to cultivate purity and goodness within. Today, Shen Yun’s artists carry on this noble tradition, incorporating study of traditional culture and meditation into their training. That is why audiences feel there is something different about Shen Yun, something that resonates on a deeper level and lasts long after the performance.
Every year, Shen Yun returns for a limited engagement with entirely new production and live orchestra.
Shen Yun Performing Arts is a New York-based nonprofit organization and is not allowed to perform in China today.
