About
A city park sees countless stories unfolding every day. A young couple have their first kiss under a blossoming tree; a lady gently commands her pet dog, and a schoolboy has lost his new soccer ball in the bushes. And, on the ordinariest of all ordinary benches, Josef and Zuzana meet by chance. Two elderly people who have nothing in common, or so it seems. Who knows what can change during three afternoon encounters in a park.
This chamber production combines elements of non-verbal theatre and film poetics to offer a humorous and kind glimpse into the lives of the elderly. A pantomime communication, filled with jokes, little coincidences and small tricks, helps to overcome the loneliness of old age. A dialogue without words uncovers the joys and challenges of the autumn of life and reminds us that despite reality sometimes taking over, friendship and love have the power to get us back on our feet.
This original work for four performers celebrates ordinary moments turned extraordinary thanks to human creativity and mutual understanding. The poetic production In the Park, full of both gags and tenderness, confirms the old truth that showing love costs you not a thing.
