Biography
Wariot Ideal are a distinguished Czech alternative art group. Formed in 2009 and based at the Alfred ve dvoře theatre in Prague, they have created numerous unique works for adults and children alike, foregrounding the visual and musical elements. They have performed at renowned Czech and international festivals. Wariot Ideal’s leading figure is the actor and mime artist Vojtěch Švejda, who has gained experience at the National Theatre in Prague, received a nomination for the prestigious Alfréd Radok Award (2009) and won the Czech Theatre DNA prize (2012) for excellent representation of original Czech theatre abroad. The other key members of Wariot Ideal are the musician and composer Jan Kalivoda, the lighting and set designer and amateur filmmaker Jan Dörner and the production manager Milena Dörnerová. As a collective, they have created improvisation-based programmes, physical and mime theatre shows, as well as feature-length drama productions.
