
Walter Schütze
Biography
Set and costume designer Walter Schütze works in Berlin. He initially studied to be an architect in the Darmstadt University of Technology and pursued this profession for several years. After later studying set design at TU Berlin, he designed productions for numerous theatre, musical and opera performances. He has designed sets and costumes for Staatstheater Darmstadt, The Chemnitz Opera, Neue Oper Wien, Wiener Staatsoper, and the Tyrol Festival. Schütze has designed sets for opera houses in the cities of Ravenna, Piacenza, Modena and Bolzano. His most important set designs have been seen in productions of Elton John’s Aida, West Side Story, Die Zauberflöte, Der fliegende Holländer, Fidelio and Salome.
