Biography
The tenor Udo Holdorf studied at Cologne’s Musikhochschule and since 1973 has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. The internationally celebrated heroic tenor has appeared as a guest at the Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals. He has collaborated with stage directors of such renown as Decker, Lehnhoff, Rennert, Schenk and Ponnelle. His major roles at the Rhine opera include Herod (Salome), Aegisthus (Elektra), Shuisky (Boris Godunov), the Witch (Hänsel und Gretel), Loge (Das Rheingold), Hetman (Wozzek), Teiresias (Bacchantes), Janáček’s Mr. Brouček and Vítek (The Makropoulos Affair ).
